Our Story

How We Began

Aditi Zutshi founded Food Protect in 2018 to bring a fresh, modern approach to health and food safety within the catering, hospitality and food manufacturing sectors. After many years working in the industry, she became disillusioned with the limited, transactional support offered by traditional safety consultants and set out to create something better.

Where We Are Now

Food Protect’s consultants partner with clients to build simple, bespoke safety systems that catering, hospitality and food manufacturing teams understand, use and value. We empower people to understand why safety matters and support businesses to embed a culture and ways of working that protect both staff and customers from ill health and injury.

Aditi Zutshi

Director & Principal Consultant

Aditi Zutshi is a highly qualified and competent health & food safety professional. She has over 20 years of wide-ranging experience in the food industry gained in food manufacturing, airline catering, contract catering, and hospitality. Her approach is pragmatic and practical, and she has a real passion for training and engaging with people. Aditi is a certified ISO 9001:2008 Lead Auditor, holds a NEBOSH certificate in Occupational Health & Safety and has significant experience in setting up and maintaining Primary Authority partnerships with local authorities.

Dean Morrison

Since working in one of London’s top five-star hotels, Dean Morrison has worked for over 25 years as an independent consultant, specialising in food safety and health & safety. He has worked across various organisations in the UK catering and hospitality industry and has delivered training courses and audits for multi-site pub companies, schools, warehouses, hotels, and contract caterers. Dean is an accomplished auditor with an engaging personality, an eye for detail, and a solution-oriented approach to auditing. He is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (MCIEH), and an associate member of the Royal Society of Public Health (AMRSPH).

Fidelma Pogorelaw

Associate Consultant

FIFST

Fidelma is a qualified Food Technologist with over 30 years’ technical experience across wholesale and retail food sectors. Her expertise includes helping supply chain businesses meet BRCGS, SALSA and Food Standards Agency (FSA) requirements, as well as those of local authorities. Trained to Level 4 HACCP and a certificated lead auditor, she has extensive experience developing HACCP and quality systems, delivering training, running audit programmes, troubleshooting issues, and driving culture change. Fidelma is a Fellow of the Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) and Secretary of its Food Safety special interest group. As a SALSA auditor and mentor, she has gained broad and in-depth product knowledge across multiple categories.

Charlotte Medhurst

Client Support Executive

Charlotte supports us as an administrative support team member. She has over 15 years of experience in the catering and hospitality industry, gained in various administrative and support roles for restaurant and consultancy businesses in the UK. Charlotte helps us with general administration duties, audit planning, scheduling and follow-up, and general liaison with clients.
